On bike check on NCN672 progress this morning. The infill at the slip site looks to be almost complete. Still a bit of a mess at the Brookside Road access point. The safety fencing at BW19 is complete. New safety fencing at several places further on. The building works at the station site appear to have been concluded. More cyclist users this morning than I have seen on previous visits. 2 dog walkers. The heavy rain of yesterday does not seem to have done any damage. Both seats are in good order!
2nd July 2009. 20 walkers today. Really hot sun with a light breeze to take the edge off a bit. No one took a fancy to having a dip in the canal. A bit too murky I feel. Refreshment taken back at Revive.
27th June 2009. An on bike visit to the Greenway to check on progress. Some fencing at two places and more earth moving at the slip site near the A608 bridge access. A little more brick work at the Station site. Both seats in good order with no graffiti! A few drinks cans about and some dog poo near the Paddock end.
26th June 2009. As we were gathering at Revive for the start of our walk along the route of the old Derby to Sandiacre canal, a message on the Revive telephone
informed us that Keith's bus had broken down, and our transport for the day would not be available. What to do? A short discussion, and a decision that we do the walk from Revive to Chaddesden Park and return. I had done this previously with a handicapped group using alleyways and jittys as far as possible. We reached the park, and made use of the newly renovated tea bar. Tea and coffee only 50p, as were cans of soft drinks! New bench seats to sit at. What more could we ask? 20 walkers started, but several left us at the park to return to their homes, which were close by. A few more left us enroute to the start at Revive, and we ended up with a handful, compared with the starting number, back at Revive by 11.30. We made a purse out of a sow's ear as the saying goes.
